Transitional Kindergarten
Registration for Transitional Kindergarten for the 2017-18 school year has begun. Please review the following. Registration forms are located at the bottom of the page and can be returned to the community school office Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Registration may also be made on Saturday, Feb. 11, 8-10 a.m. during the Terrific for Tots registration.
All aspects of the program have been designed to meet the needs of children who would benefit from another year to develop emotionally, socially and/or academically before entering Kindergarten. To provide students with the best preparation possible for the stamina needed for full-day kindergarten, the program will run daily from 8:45 a.m.-2:15 p.m. following the district's calendar. Enrollment is limited. Parents are encouraged to register as soon as possible.
Children must be 5 years of age on or before December 31, 2017.
The class is located at Coleman Elementary School.
The program has been developed in collaboration with the professionals in the Glen Rock School District to align with the Kindergarten curriculum; it includes math, science, social studies, handwriting and language arts. Several field trips per year are planned with an academic premise. Children will also have opportunities for free play with manipulatives, centers and time outdoors. As appropriate for these students, emphasis will be placed on fine and gross motor skill development.
The certificated teaching staff will be assisted by an experienced teacher's aide. For additional information on curricular specifics, tuition and registration, please review the materials below and contact the Glen Rock Community School office at 201-389-5011.
